About this map
This map shows India's major mountain ranges and peaks. The young fold mountains of the north (the Himalayas, Karakoram and Siwaliks) are among the highest in the world. The old, worn-down ranges of the peninsula (the Aravalli, Vindhya, Satpura, and the Western and Eastern Ghats) are much lower.
Anamudi (2,695 m) in Kerala is the highest peak in South India. Guru Shikhar (1,722 m) at Mount Abu is the highest point of the Aravallis.
